About The ArtisT

Karlin Meehan’s lifelong obsession with pattern and color began as a young girl growing up in Newport Beach, California. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and ceramics from the University of Southern California in 2007. Meehan works primarily with acrylic paint and non-traditional materials. She is best known for her large florals and abstract work. With each piece of art, she hopes to convey stories of movement through color, shapes, lines, and layers of paint.

About The Work

I am constantly searching for inspiration through good design, nature, people, and experiences. I have a genuine love for color and my intention is to create lively images that excite the viewer. The texture and vividness of my art materials are extremely important in conveying the emotion of the individual piece. As a result, each painting is a documentation of that present moment. It can never be recreated or replaced.

All of my paintings are done intuitively. I carefully place lines and blocks of color on specific portions of the canvas to create balance and movement. I take breaks from time to time to observe, and reflect on each work, before interacting with the piece again. Each stroke is purposeful and significant. There is something beautiful about creating a one of a kind piece to showcase and illuminate a space for years to come. I am always curious and evolving. My hope is to be constantly learning from each work that I create in a lifelong process.
